I am very Excited to be working with Morelia Boeleni, Boelens Pythons.
I have been lucky enough to acquire a captive hatched pair from Mike Cole at Ball Room Pythons South.
These were hatched in Indonesia on January 16th 2010, and Imported to the US Directly by Mike on Feburary 14th 2010.
I aquired this pair July 17th 2010 and they were delivered to my facility on July 21st 2010.
They are being housed in 18x18 tubs with cypress mulch, a 8x8 hide box, 5 inch water bowl with spring water, 3 different pvc perches, With the max temp during the day reaching 82*, and being sprayed/misted at minimum of once daily with spring water.
June 30 2011: The Boelens have recently been upgraded to larger cages as they have continued to eat reguarly and grow at a nice and normal rate. At 17 months old now they have almost reached 4 ft and have lost most of the juvenile auburn color.
I am working with the ONLY BOELENS in the state of Kentucky. These are often refered to by natives to Indonesia as Sanca Bulan. Only four successful captive breedings with this species has occured. The first Boelens to hatch in the U.S. was an imported gravid female acquired by Tracey Barker in 1989 that sucessfully laid and 19 of the 20eggs of the clutch hatched. The other four however were actual captive breedings Paul Miles 1993, Jason Baylin and Frank Memmo 2001, and Jim Leware 2004 & 2006. Tom Keogan proved his male in 2010 by crossing a male Boelens and a female Carpet python to produce the worlds first Boelens hybrid the Coelens Python.
I will post more information on these as time progresses and the snakes continue to grow. For additional information on Morelia Boeleni please visit boelenspythons.com or ularhitam.com |
